The text investigates Bernard Herrmann's score for Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo. The score plays a critical role in the development and realization of the film's narrative. The Hitchcock/Herrmann collaboration resulted in nine films and lasted eleven years. Herrmann's score for Vertigo is generally considered as being one of his finest.

it truly is a great score, no? especially the prelude, like a diabolical octagon or something. so angular and light, almost rococo, yet totally sinister. really the perfect soundtrack for a maelstrom.
