Lions, Tigers and Baring All, Oh My

Say what you will about Michael Lucas – and it’s all probably been said – but he understands perfectly well the maxim that it’s better to be spoken about than not spoken about at all. And depending on what side of the Michael Meter you fall, New York Magazine’s piece on him will either have you gnawing on your last remaining cuticles or shouting out in joy for Gay Adult Entertainment’s arrival in the mainstream press. The piece, entitled “The Lion of Chelsea” delves gingerly into the Michael Lucas Saga – all Michael, all the time. It’s a fluff piece that normally would be passed over for something more culturally important like the Reese Witherspoon/Ryan Phillipe
break up.
But it is still oddly remarkable that a magazine of this stature would actually exert the energy required to do a piece on Russia’s single most controversial export since Matryoshka dolls. And, ironically, it won’t change much as far as people’s perceptions about pornography go. You’re either with us or against us to borrow that overly simplified expression. What is sad, though, is that it did have to be a piece on Mr. Lucas. Granted, he knows how to hold attention hostage – after all, he did compare his version of La Dolce Vita with the masterpiece – but if the world is going to be introduced to Gay Porn couldn’t the mainstream press find someone just a little less controversial and a little more human. Say, a cross-dressing, opinionated diva who runs an equally large porn franchise but doesn’t have nearly the baggage Mr. Lucas does?

Hell no! We've all heard more than enough about Chichi. Boring. I think they should have done a piece about the even more controversial hotties of Treasure Island! Then I might be bothered to pay attention to mainstream press!

be it lucas or larue, gay porn is gonna be controversial to hetero america. although i would suspect that with the whole image lucas likes to project, ny mag felt he would make the subject more palatable to their readers. i mean, they did entitle the piece "the lion of chelsea" - and what other (aggressively) visible porn star embodies chelsea (and by extension NY) better than lucas?

although - and i honestly don't mean this as a slam to either - they're both the same person. just in different wrappers.

but again, i'm biased. i, too, would want a piece done on paul instead. my allegiance lies squarely with TIM, anyway.

You are right, gay cum junky! I finally saw the whole version of "Fuck Holes" and literally ended up in the hospital the next day. Libertine: Always so perceptive. And we love your loyalty! And to squattbutt: I was crying I was laughing so hard. Thanks for all of your comments
